Our Story
The YOD origianly Camp Y.O.D. (Youth Outdoor Days) was started in 2006 in the family back yard in Randallstown MD. We started this just wanting to do something to get children outside for a few days away from tv and video games to connect with each other, nature and our creator.

Within the first five years children from up and down the eastern seaboard descended on Maryland for this unique experience. Hosting entomologist (insect expert), biologist (life expert), geologist (earth expert) camp attendees explored the wonders of God's clearly seen image together.

Camp wasn't all education the YOD Games became the battle ground on which our teams the Oringinators, Mean Green and Blue Jays were formed and bragging rights earned. Tug of war, sack and egg races are just some of the games that fuel the healthy competition among the campers and of course the coveted YOD Games Trophy.

Why “The YOD”?
The YOD takes its name from the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet, the same letter Jesus referenced in Matthew 5:18. In its ancient form, yod is associated with a hand—a reminder of God's hand at work and of Christ, who sits at the right hand of the Father. Though small, the yod reminds us that God often uses humble beginnings to accomplish things that last for generations.
The Meaning Behind the Name
Yod (×™) is the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet, yet Jesus pointed to its significance when He said:
“Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law…” — Matthew 5:18
The word jot refers to the Hebrew letter yod, reminding us that even the smallest things matter to God.
In its ancient pictographic form, yod is associated with a hand, and many believers see in it a picture of God's hand at work. Christians also confess that Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father, ruling and interceding for His people. That imagery beautifully reflects our desire for The YOD to be a place where families, children, and communities experience God's work through faith, fellowship, creativity, and service.
Whether around a campfire, through STEM projects, drone flights, arts and crafts, game nights, outdoor adventures, or simply sharing life together, we believe God uses small moments and ordinary people to accomplish things that can impact generations.
At The YOD, we're building more than events—we're cultivating a Christ-centered community where families grow together, children are equipped for the future, and faith is lived out in everyday life.
